Hiking, running, swimming every bit of Hong Kong

Author hkoutdooradventures

Iurgi /juːɡɪ/, Spanish (Basque) living in Hong Kong since 2004. My very first day here we hiked up to Lion Rock and since then I have been exploring all around Hong Kong, trail running, open water swimming, etc. Once I find really special places I like to show them to others. I love seeing the “I can’t believe this is HK” faces

Ocean Park coasteering

Having fun under the amusement park. Sea caves, nice rock formations, fishermen getting all kinds of different mollusks.

Stanley coasteering & stream

A route that includes good coasteering and stream hiking starting from Stanley main beach, ending undefined (different options).

North Heaven’s Gate

Another interesting way up to Lantau Peak. A little cave, steep paths, and picturesque cliffs included.

Wong Nai Tun stream

Nice stream with a couple of thin but cute waterfalls ending in Thousand Islands or another easy stream down.

South Lantau

The Southernmost part of Lantau provides picturesque landscapes, some historical sites and little or no crowds.

Ma Sai stream

One of those streams that looked promising on the map but was not fun overall. Be careful if heading here.

Tai Tam reservoir

Dry winter months allow you to visit the reservoir within. Strange beauty. A beach that is not a beach.

10,000 Buddhas & a Cross

Sometimes friends ask for an easy walk or newcomers want to see touristy destinations. This includes both.

Lo Fu Tau

A nice ridge above Discovery Bay. You can add different paths within the North Lantau country park for a “challenging” trail run or hike.
