Have you hiked Qiu Feng & wanna give its twin a try? Similar flow, nicer falls, just a more inconvenient exit. Or you could try both in one go.

See full screen and the Garmin track of a long day in the area & going up this stream & Qiu Feng down.

In our case, the first time we hiked Tsak Yue Wu (鯽魚湖, the same name as the village below) downstream after checking the High Island streams. More recently we hiked it upstream and down Qiu Feng after heavy rain. 40mm within the day and 50mm more the previous day. Pics & video from that day.

The two streams are parallel and connect at the very bottom. So copy paste of the usual logistics. You can take public transportation till almost the very entrance of the stream. Either any bus going to Wong Shek pier, or specifically the minibus going to the Lady Maclehose Holiday Village, the stop where to get down. If driving, you will need to stop a bit more than a km behind, at the Pak Tam Chung parking. Walk a bit on the road and find your way down to the stream, behind this railing.

We were prepared with full waterproof bags. So ready to wade and tiny swim (0:17) in the very first section. Full of water after the heavy rain. You can skip it with a side path that takes you quite apart from the stream.

If so you will connect back with the first significant waterfall. Just above this text on the left Enrique & Tania hiking on its left. After there are a few pools and smaller falls until you arrive at the main attractions. The biggest waterfall (1:17 – 🏴).

Big and powerful (for size reference with way less flow). Scramble up on the left side of it. Before getting into further pools and falls. In the pic above on the right Tania getting into the double pool. The upper one is deep enough to jump into (1:42). With our conditions we did not even try to climb that, but we took the side path on the right of it.

Upper with such a big water flow there was a small fork with a tributary that I had not marked on the map the previous time (1:55). In any case, we continued in the main tributary with quite some ribbons, and in no time we arrived at the other high waterfall (2:17).

Path and ribbons on its right side. Mid-way we went back to it (2:27) and climbed on it. A bit later the slope starts to reduce significantly and eventually, you need to leave the stream. Trust the GPS track and check for human marks and ribbons. After some bushwalking, you will arrive at this path.

If you want to end up the day hike down to the road. If you want to connect with Qiu Feng go up the hill and down again.
