Double Dragon stream (雙龍石澗) is another interesting way up to Sunset Peak. First section with several pools to dip into. Second section with the best waterfalls.

  • Beauty/fun: 7.5/10 Lower section with nice pools to dip into, upper one with beautiful waterfalls. Both the hills above and the shoreline below unfolding the higher you go are very photogenic.
  • Difficulty (check this link if new here, this is not your standard HK hiking web): 6.5/10 The navigation is simple, there is basically only one point where you could feel not sure which tributary to go up through (marked on the map below). There are ribbons guiding you through the easiest paths, although you might want to be closer sometimes to the stream itself. This rating considers the latter just avoiding the final high waterfall, which is significantly more difficult to climb due to the slippery rocks on the sides.
  • Map (how to download to your phone)

See full screen and the Garmin track of the stream itself then we went down through Tung Lung stream, here that track too.

Public transportation. Tung Chung MTR station and 3M bus towards Mui Wo. Alternatively ferry to Mui Wo and any bus departing from there. The bus stop is Swire Holiday House.

Walk not even 150m SE direction and get into a small road down on your right.

Just before the house turn right and you will find a short concrete path that will take you to the stream.

From the start you will be walking next to the stream and waterfalls.

There are some areas where to scramble, unless you want to get very wet.

There are side paths with ribbons to avoid several waterfalls upper. Although it is always more fun in 😀

2m+ wall to climb up.

The forest can be dense in some areas, but it is not specially thorny nor difficult to navigate.

Last significant waterfall.

Before arriving at the mid way.

Connection with the South Lantau country trail.

Turn right and go back down for an early exit. Otherwise continue on the stream. In no time you will arrive at more impressive waterfalls.

And the main fork you need to take care of. Orange mark on the map. Take here the right tributary. Way more spectacular and easy to navigate.

This second section is significantly more difficult. You will be scrambling continuously.

Close to or in the waterfalls.

This one below can get a bit tricky. If your shoes are not good enough or you are not a confident scrambler go back down a bit and find a right side path.

Getting into the last big waterfall.

It is really high and quite slippery. But you can easily bypass it through a path clearly marked with ribbons

On its right.

Moving forward the slope decreases significantly and therefore the size of the waterfalls too. Here turning right on the upper fork.

Last waterfall and the vegetation getting closer.

Until the connection with the Lantau trail.

From here you can turn right and go down to the same exit point as the one previously mentioned. Both marked on the map. Otherwise go up to Sunset Peak, or down to the other Dragons, aforementioned Tung Lung for example.

Several more pics and video of the second section.
