Nice short stream just above the city, with a little messy entry/exit but tons of pools and waterfalls to enjoy after rainy days. Wong Chung‘s cousin.

See full screen & the Garmin track.

Cousin not twin, because they are related but with their differences. In our case we hiked them both in the same day. Wong Chung up and this down. Pictures to be shown in up to bottom direction accordingly.

Up Wong Chung + check Tai No waterfalls after some days of rain. Pretty.

Once on top, on MacLehose we followed the brown path. Initially very clear, as it is a main one going down to the city. Just a bit later it branches and becomes more obscure. Slightly muddy, mainly downhill and within dense vegetation or trees. Following the GPS and several ribbons it was not difficult.

Until we arrived at the valley: Mouse Farm. Surprising plain (not many of those in HK) with an old building starting to be fully covered by vegetation.

The path just after is…

Practically non existent. Completely overgrown. But with soft vegetation that soon opened before arriving at the stream. The upper part is very flat and therefore overgrown too.

Not especially thorny but you might want to shortcut through the purple obscure path marked on the map.

Eventually the slope increases and the stream starts to look nicer.

A little slider

just before arriving at the first significant waterfall and pool. Deep enough to jump into.

It also has a little go through cave on the left side. Just after another fall with strong flow. Diana suffering the not so gentle massage.

And immediately after another waterfall with an even deeper pool. Jump!

Full route we were seeing water channeling constructions. But none looked functional: broken pipelines, hoses to nowhere… Here another pool with some water contention rocks on the bottom.

More stream and

another man made pool with a nice waterfall under.

Last big pool,

some fun short sliders and already at building level.

Just after we found some old people gathering places and the exit to the road. 7 min walk and bus stop with different destinations.

If doing it reverse, I guess you could take an easier way out. Marked on the map yellow although not checked yet.
