I wanted to give other tributaries connecting with the main stream down South Heaven’s Gate a try. Just a cute but not especially interesting one.

See full screen and Garmin track with also the Teapod Ridge.

Bus to Tong Fuk Tsuen. Find your way on Lantau trail section 10. The start would be just here.

A stream with tons of tributaries. In little time you will arrive at the main fork. If you take this tributary up

you will be heading to South Heaven’s Gate itself. Continue on the right tributary instead. You will find another fork approx 15 minutes later. Marked on the map above. There were also some purple ribbons heading up towards that tributary on 1/12/2018. The stream itself in the initial part is not especially interesting. Vegetation getting bit dense in some areas, but in general easy to cross.

Untill you arrive at the waterfall section itself. It is nice after significant rain, otherwise quite small. You can see quite some pictures at wildconqueror forum and this Google drive with people, for size reference.

Also a video with them going up through the stream and through South Heaven’s traditional path down.

At 0:30 the part that can get bit tricky if wet. All the rest is easy to scramble on, with better grip rocks or “steps”.

The main problem of the stream is getting out of it. There is no clear path for doing so. In my case, I decided to go to the top of the ridge on the left side of the stream itself. I needed to scramble in a bit loose terrain, but finding the way was not complicated (full body covered to avoid scratches) and from there head towards Lantau path up.

As per the pics mentioned before, discovered later checking on internet. Seems that there is a “frog rock” around

and the exit that most people use, closer to the stream itself. In my case, looked way denser than the route I took. But I might have been wrong.

Everything you should know before stream hiking.
