The valley around Pak Mong has several streams. This offers clear water too, higher waterfalls but less flow. Not bad an option.
- Beauty/fun: 6/10 Nice waterfall only if with significant rain in previous days. Mid-low flow on the upper part. Clean water with quite some fishes under.
- Difficulty (check this link if new here, this is not your standard HK hiking web): 5.5/10 a few high non vertical sandy scrambles, not clear exit.

Same starting point as Pak Mong, so not the most convenient public transportation. Very few buses arrive at Pak Mong stop. Taxi or additional walk from Tung Chung otherwise.
Head up the concrete road. Just little after the Ngau Kwu Long toilets turn left and find this “nice” gate… Local residents decided that public paths were theirs and built the ilegal blocking. There could be a good reason for it. The area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with tons of interesting stream life around. Very rare fish species included. But the reality is that is local residents that do not want hikers around. You can find another entry a little further up, or just roll under 🤫
In no time you will arrive at the stream. Avoid the thorny section and up dry for a while.
Soon there are pools were to cool down.
With small waterfalls. Even a “pothole”.
By the way, please, minimize the sunscreen you are using. Ideally, as she was doing, wear full cloth coverage and only sunscreen on your face. So that as little, or non at all, ends in the stream.
A little further up another waterfall
which is way more picturesque from within. Kinda dragon mouth like.
The upper you go the more vegetation around.
But nothing very relevant yet. Arriving at the highest waterfall section.
It must look very pretty after significant rain days. Which was not the case that day.
Steep sandy path just on the right of it.
A little further up carefully (still sandy) you can reconnect with the stream again.
And the nice part finishes with the slightly messy exit. Slope decreases significantly and therefore the vegetation grows into the stream.
The wildconquerors had a route heading South and back down to the valley through a dry creek. We checked a bit. Very overgrown. And we decided to go straight, hard bush but not thorny, to the path on the North East.
Up the hill. Connect with the main Lantau path and different options there. In our case, we decided to connect with the DBay streams and take the bus back.
