長連坑 Cheung Lin Stream is a relatively low flow short stream which is at its best after some days of rain. Different follow up options included.

We went there after a full week of heavy rain, including the first hours of that very same day.

(Mini) bus to the stop next to the Tai Tam Country Park South Entrance. Walk for a little while on the concrete and after the bridge you can find the side path carved in the vegetation here, going

towards the stream.

That day, in no time, we were among the waterfalls.

Time to climb

in wet or dry modes.

Soon we could see water controlling structures.

A tiny fork. Continuing on the right.

And big waterfalls section. This easily dry climbable on its left side (ribbons there).

A bit higher

another little dam

and therefore little pool and waterfall above.

Next fork in front of her. There was quite more flow on the right side up the fall.

But after climbing it I could not find any ribbons or any sign of previous hikers there. Quite far from any hiking path on our map… We decided to continue on the original stream path.

Another waterfall and a little collapsed cliff next to it.

A nice pool upper.

Wonderful flow that day.

We found another fork. Again, on the right side we could see way more water. We decided to climb and give it a try.

Dead end not a long later 😅 super dense vegetation. I had the prunners with me, but we decided to just go back down and follow the path. Ribbons heading up on the almost dry creek, through some bamboos

and connect with the hiking paths atop the hill.

Once here you have different options. I have marked on the map the most direct but a bit bushy path (something like this)

back to the starting point and the one that I like the most going through the Secret Valley of the Twins down Tiger stream to the road or coastline. It is what we did last time there. Pics for that section + tiny coasteering to Stanley (reverse of this route with more exit possibilities).

Video I found of a group doing the route reverse. At 7:40 they start to go down to Cheung Lin stream through the bamboo pass.

With way less water and quite some ads in Cantonese 😉

Everything you should know before stream hiking.
