Another easier way to go to South Heaven’s Gate (all the routes here). Not as spectacular as Dog’s Tooth version, but suitable for less experienced hikers or those with mild vertigo.
- Beauty/fun: 6.5/10 Initially within the woods. Then goes kind of parallel of Dog’s Tooth (you can see hikers up there). Some beautiful easy scramble and connecting with South Heavens Gate
- Difficulty (check this link if new here, this is not your standard HK hiking web): 4.5/10 Steep. Scrambling is not especially difficult, although those with extreme vertigo might not enjoy it. Tons of ribbons all around.

See full screen and the Garmin track, including also an obscure stream that you might want to disregard if wanting an easier outing. Find your way on Lantau trail section 10.
This water channeling will take you into the woods.
Tons of ribbons guiding you. Soon you will leave the tree line behind and start the bush only area. Here with a local resident going back down home.
On your left you will almost continuously see the Dog’s Tooth ridge, with quite some more hikers there.
Arriving at the scrambling area.
The teapot.
Relatively easy anyhow.
You will finally connect with the South Phoenix path. The main hiking path towards the Gate. Within the trees again with the cliff on your left.
Crossing a rock stream.
And the goal there.
