Hiking, running, swimming every bit of Hong Kong

Author hkoutdooradventures

Iurgi /juːɡɪ/, Spanish (Basque) living in Hong Kong since 2004. My very first day here we hiked up to Lion Rock and since then I have been exploring all around Hong Kong, trail running, open water swimming, etc. Once I find really special places I like to show them to others. I love seeing the “I can’t believe this is HK” faces

Weather

Weather might be one of the most important factors you should take into consideration when planning your outings. Do not underestimate how much it can affect your activities.

Tung Ma To

Tung Ma To (東馬肚坑 – East Horse Belly stream) South tributary is a spectacular difficult jungle stream connecting with the Hunch Backs.

D’Aguilar peninsula

Once upon a time Dragon’s Back was a nice hike option around Shek O. Overcrowded now. Other options in the same area here: nice view hill & tiny streams.

Tung Lung Chau

An excellent route including tons of caves, dramatic cliffs, jumping spots, waterfalls. Only suitable for really confident swimmers/coasteers.

Cheung Ngam Wan

Another short coasteering route, around Long Ke in Sai Kung. You could combine it with the previous one for a long day with nice views all around.

Laida to Laga

Easy coasteering route connecting some of the nicest beaches and coves of Biscay. Add a bit of hiking to enjoy all the scenery of Urdaibai estuary

Barrika coasteering

Spectacular cliffs and rock formations on the Bay of Biscay. Part of the routes abroad, Basque Country this time.

Hidden Dragon

Another tributary with nice waterfalls in Wong Lung Han area. Steadily steep, with some scrambling sections & fewer people than the latter.

Pak Mong stream

One of the cleanest streams hiked in Lantau. Relatively easy to hike, with side paths for “trickier” sections. The exits are quite bushy nowadays.
