Hiking, running, swimming every bit of Hong Kong

Author hkoutdooradventures

Iurgi /juːɡɪ/, Spanish (Basque) living in Hong Kong since 2004. My very first day here we hiked up to Lion Rock and since then I have been exploring all around Hong Kong, trail running, open water swimming, etc. Once I find really special places I like to show them to others. I love seeing the “I can’t believe this is HK” faces

Chi Ma Wan West

Fun route full of peculiar rock formations, short climbs, traverse, slabs, sit on and slide down areas and a few beaches where to rest.

Hoi Ha – Tolo

A long route full of corals, clear water, remote beaches, and a few nice rocks in the Geopark. More suitable for a swim hike than usual coasteering.

Green Egg – Silverstrand

Green Egg island is one of those little secrets that became mainstream in 2020. Mixed coasteering route heading West towards Silverstrand.

Port Shelter

Nam Wai to Silverstrand beach was a lot better than expected route, with a few fun scrambling areas and pristine spring sea water.

Siu A Chau

Soko Islands offer history, very fun coasteering, and impressive rocks. So much that we did not have time to see everything that we had planned.

LinFanShan mine

The hills of Ling Fa Shan (NT) are full of tunnels. Well over 100 adits as per those that have been trying to check them all. Exploration for weeks.

Leighton Hill ARP

Which are the most accessible WW2 tunnels in Hong Kong? For the time being definitely these. Although they might be soon sealed/reformed…

Jardine’s West tunnels

Did I mention that there are tons of tunnels in Hong Kong? Some more in the area, narrower and trickier. For those happy with the challenge.

Sha Lo Wan mine

Looking for the fake slot canyon of Hong Kong or trying to visit all the mines we have? The only two reasons to recommend this place.
