Nam Wai to Silverstrand beach was a lot better than expected route, with a few fun scrambling areas and pristine spring sea water.

This was one of the few areas in Saikung that I hadn’t swum in. I was looking for something that looked easy with beaches en route to stop at. I was expecting boring rocks similar to Palm Beach to Silverstrand area, but instead it was more Trio like. Nice!

Start at the end of Nam Wai road

We took an Uber till there. For public transportation, most buses going to Saikung pass close to Nam Wai. Follow Google Map indications and after 10-15 minutes walk you will arrive at this Tin Hau Temple, just next to the car park.

Tide and wave forecast of the day.

Start walking on the concrete, first mini beach (not interesting) and

onto the green rocks.

All this area is full of small boulders, but with some intermediate sandy areas,

and

really clean water, it was far from boring.

A little further an easy connection with the hiking path around and a bigger sandy area (marked on the map).

Eventually arriving at the first scrambling area. First high cliff is easily passed where she is on.

But just after can get a bit trickier if you want to stay completely dry. I just waded knee high instead and checked how safe it was for her to scramble down without using the fishermen’s rope. Tricky. She used the rope…

A little further a beautiful pool.

And high

scrambling

for a while

before arriving

at Campsite Bay 露營灣. Not bad a beach but crowded the day we were there (Covid days with gazzeted beaches closed).

Just a little further another nice scrambling area.

With a longer traverse.

A tiny sandy area with espectacular water

before arriving at Pak Shui Wan waterfall area. A pity that the stream is dirty there.

There is a smaller fall directly falling to the rocks a little further and then the University.

Go up their promenade and back again to the rocks. Still nice water under

and some OK, easy scrambling.

Aerial view of this area.

Arriving at Silverstrand.

If with no Covid measures, you can have a shower here and go up the road to bus stop or others.
