Twin streams that looked perfect to include in the coasteering route below, but are a complete pain in the current conditions.

Finally I was approaching the twin streams that were the main goal of the day. My plan was to check if these two were good enough to combine in an outing with the coasteering below. Coasteer, go up Right creek, go down Left creek, and continue coasteering. On the map and the little I had explored before it looked a good option. But not really. Starting from the abandoned resort clear bushy path.

I find a group of hikers at the bottom of the Right Creek (10).

They were a bit surprised when they saw me scrambling the waterfalls (0:19). Quite easy with little water flow and good holds. It must look pretty after significant rain.

The stream with a few small pools and waterfalls remains clear until the fork (11 & 1:16). Right side is more clear and it even has a pretty line waterfall (1:38).

But eventually I arrived to a very bushy section (12). Far from the hiking path atop, I decided to go back down and in the fork this time (13) take the left tributary. This was my original plan. But there was almost no water from the start and it was extremely bushy. Pruners and full cover gloves out almost from the start.

Even when I was on what the openstreetmap was showing as a hiking path (0:28). Not really. Pure hard bushwalk. 37 minutes and 370m later… I found the Left creek (0:33). Tiny amount of water and still tons of bush to fight with. At least it was a bit easier. 20 minutes and another 340m later I arrived at the first waterfall and pool (0:58).

Decent stream moving forward but with all big waterfalls and pools at the end, arriving at the coastline with (regularly) quite some boats around.

Final conclusion: if you are coasteering and you want to stream hike a bit, just go up the initial waterfalls, as high or low as your wish, and go back down to the coastline without the bush fight. Way more fun.

If you want to see some more pics with people in it, here the post of Sankala. In their case going from North to South. First going to Po Kwu Hang (in a next post) and after Tam Shui Left upstream and Right downstream.

Everything you should know before stream hiking.
