A small stream with a few peculiar rocks and a pretty chimney climb waterfall. One more above MacLehose section 10.
- Beauty/fun: 5.5/10 the dragon boat rock, the pretty chimney climb section and little more. You better avoid the upper section, making it a short stream.
- Difficulty (check this link if new here, this is not your standard HK hiking web): 5/10 if trying to scramble in the water, easier with side paths. If you want to do the upper section (not recommended) bring full clothe cover and may be pruners if you are not good with the navigation + bushwalk.

I continued checking all this area. Kau Keng South creek 九逕南坑 this time. Bus to Cafetería Beach. Up Tsing Ying road and take these stairs up to MacLehose trail.
The lower part of the stream is here.
Before, hikers used to “traverse” holding the metal cage you can see on the left side of the photosphere. No need. If you just follow a few meters on the right side you will arrive at an easier spot to cross the catchwater. Video starting there.
In a couple of minutes you are back next to the stream. The initial section has only one slightly remarkable waterfall (0:30). Water gathering structures, shallow pools, and some boulders around.
At (5) on the map (1:15) the Dragon boat rock. Me on top just for reference. Silly picture and little more.
At (6) a climbable 4m waterfall (1:24), beware of the moss atop. Just little after a tiny tunnel to climb through (7 – 1:41). I didn’t mark on the map, but I checked a bit higher and a few meters on the right side of the stream some boulders (1:53). Back to the stream and arrive at the highlight of the stream (8 – 2:07).
Fun almost chimney climbing waterfall with a pretty nice rock structure above. I guess you can completely side dry scramble it on its right.
Just a little later a path crosses the stream. The recommendation would be to leave here and go back to the starting point. If you continue in the stream you will find this.
Relatively low flow and dense vegetation. I could see clear traces of hikers before, sometimes separating from the stream to connect back again a bit upper. But eventually I got fed up of fighting with the vegetation and I bush walk exited (0:23) to the faint parallel path (10).
There are quite some clear ridge paths around to go down towards Tuen Mun.
In my case, I saw on the Openstreetmap that there where a few named rocks around and decided to check them. At 0:31 天后之牀 = The Bed of Heavenly Queen 🤷♂️ Basically a flat rock good to sleep on. The ridge path I took is a nice one with quite some boulders and even a few walls (1:04) that have potential for climbers. Eventually I connected with the MacLehose stage 10 again
next to the last stream to be checked in all this area: 九青坑 Kau Ching (Turquois) Hang.
To see pictures with people within for reference: Gohiking post of the stream in dry winter mode & wildconqueror’s going down after next to some of the boulder aforementioned.
