壁山溪 Wall Mountain stream has a few peculiar man made structures, several waterfalls and an initial cute woods area. Bushy exit though.
- Beauty/fun: 5/10 a few nice waterfalls, several deep pools. Not the most convenient exit with dense vegetation in any option. Usually just side extra fun for me.
- Difficulty (check this link if new here, this is not your standard HK hiking web): 5/10 there are side paths for all the waterfalls. You will need to get fully wet if starting on the lower section. If going to the very top, very bushy hiking required although with easy navigation.

I had hiked this stream several times on my own. Always after checking others in the area. Eventually I brought a buddy there, so time to upload the route.
Closest public transportation Pak Kong or Tai Chung Hau bus stops, depending where you want to start. Same as in the previous post, you could take taxi up to the very start through Pak Kong road. In our case, we came through there after hiking Wu Lei Tau stream. Entry at (11) on the map. There is an old broken bridge and fenced property just after, on the South bank. Therefore no one uses that mini path but for entering the stream. Slightly bushy and with tons of trash. Video starting already on the stream side.
Small dam and up within the cute woods. Small waterfalls, one deep pool and end this initial section with a surprising highlight. I love the “WTF” face of Tania at the video at 1:18 😆
Someone built a “European style” garden pool in the stream with a fountain with lights and a (for the last years) semi sinked boat. There is a bridge that connects the road with a fenced private property. Statues of deers, lions, an English style postbox, an anchor, etc 🤷♂️ (12) on the map. According to Openstreetmap 碧雲澗有機種植研究中心 some kind of organic planting research center.
In any case, after the shock is when the stream fun comes. Natural deep pools and waterfalls to climb through.
There is one that we didn’t climb. 2:19 in the video. Initially looks very doable but the rocks are angled down and quite slippery. We had already climbed a few in Wu Lei Tau. So we passed and hiked a bit faster.
Later (14) the main fork. This time, mid October, already on seeding season, I decided to take the shortest out to avoid destroying Tania’s leggings 😄 That means taking the first left tributary. It is smaller and has a bit more vegetation. A few smaller waterfalls and a relatively short bush walk out to a main path.
If you continue on the right main tributary you can find mossy sections, easy to pass vines and upper bigger waterfalls and water gathering old concrete broken structures.
Video atop on my own starting from 2:22.
After the 3:11-3:27 concatenated waterfalls I found an easy exit to a hiking path. Not marked anywhere, but easy to pass through vegetation 3:32 at (17) on the map. The downhill path is quite clear but bushy. You connect with the left tributary exit at (18) and a couple of minutes later with the main civilized path (19) & the road down.
You could hike upstream further. But there is nothing interesting atop (peculiar trash apart) and the bush walk is even longer. You would end up in MacLehose trail on top of the hill this way.
