Tiny creek with little water a big part of the year but which can be really fun & pretty after heavy rain. Short and with relatively bushy exit.

See full screen & the Garmin track (going up Sai Keng Left, main Sai Keng & down Tung Wo Left Left).

After our too dry and not so fun Ma Niu Ho hike day I wanted to bring Ben to something a bit more interesting. As mentioned in the Cheung Ching Hang post I had already checked the main Sai Keng stream. A beauty that I wanted to see at its best after some rain. Previous day 140-200mm, the very same early morning additional 30mm+ in the area. Big flow in every stream. I proposed him to check this small creek (西徑左坑 = Sai Keng Left) first.

Sai Keng bus stop, walk for a few minutes and next to this emergency stop area on the road is the stream entry.

Video.

In the lower section there are some water channeling structures. And little later the first high waterfall coming from an even smaller tributary (3rd pic below).

We continued on the main tributary. Scrambling in the water most of the time. The waterfall in the second pic below (1:05 in the video) is a tricky one. Ben is, among others, a climbing instructor. So very doable for him. If you and your buddies are not sure about your skills, you can scramble up on the right side of the waterfall. Good anchoring tree above in case you have a 20m rope and want to help others up the waterfall.

Higher the flow diminishes. I guess dry most of the days. Eventually we arrived at the connection with a faint hiking path. It didn’t look that above there was anything interesting (the creek becoming miniscule and flatter) and we decided to exit (2:19).

Bushy and with a few fallen trees but a relatively easy to follow path for experienced hikers. Eventually the connection with the road here.

And after we headed to the main course of the day: Sai Keng main stream.
