Small stream which is able to perfectly hold quite some rain with several waterfalls. Surrounded by nice hiking woods.
- Beauty/fun: 5.5/10 short route if you want to hike the open part and take the side paths (avoid the waterfall climbs). Longer if you are OK with bushier sections
- Difficulty (check this link if new here, this is not your standard HK hiking web): 4.5/10 if taking the side paths, 6.5/10 going in most of the waterfalls. Tons of potential early exits.

I spent a couple of weekends exploring all the tributaries connecting with this stream. Once I knew the most interesting spots I brought a friend. Therefore pics from different days and conditions. First time there within a T3 after several heavy rain days, so massive, but doable (pics with no one). With Ana several weeks after with significantly less flow.
Usual public transportation: MTR to Kam Sheung Road Station & mini bus to Lui Kung Tin. Walk on concrete for 10-15 minutes and turn up Kap Lung Forest trail. Just a few meters ahead, after those posts
the entry to the stream.
Above with T3. Huge strong flow. Fun anyhow. Ana testing for the first time her Evolv shoes.
Very good grip, but nevertheless sometimes she needed to use not very conventional scrambling moves 😄
Before arriving at the potential second entry (the bridge) marked on the map she found the first challenge. A two meters waterfall to climb with a fallen tree above + vegetation. With massive flow interesting problem.
For her a lot easier once I let her know how to do it on its left. Continue up and the fun increases. Climbable waterfalls. I did this one first so that she could see how to, set up the rope just in case and went back through the easy side path down to take the pics while she was ascending.
Test passed 😉
A bit further a waterfall that we didn’t try to climb. Very slippery rocks around. It is easily climbable on its left. Although the way does not look obvious once there. Ana got stuck more or less there on the left pic.
So I passed her, get closer to the water flow and scramble up left after on slippery rocks. Doable even with the T3 flow.
A bit upper we checked a tiny mine prospecting.
There are a few. Others even smaller. It seems that they did not find anything interesting and they did not set up proper mining structures a la Lin Fa Shan.
Upper you can continue climbing on smaller waterfalls.
Up to the connection with the Kap Lung Ancient Trail.
Time to decide what to do. If you are not happy with some further dense vegetation, take the path out in either direction. Nice woods with easy hiking paths around.
In our case we continued on the left tributary for a little while. Green (D1) area. Just to show her a few more pools & small waterfalls. We even left the backpacks behind a little after the fork, as we would return a few minutes later.
The T3 day I continued exploring and after some more small waterfalls the slope decreases and becomes almost a flat stream with tons of trees down.
I am guessing from a recent typhoon. It became a vegetation mess fast and I decided to take a tiny tributary up connecting with the main hiking path.
With Ana, we went back again to the fork and take the left tributary up instead. Following the blue way marks on the map. There are a few dense vegetation sections but higher waterfalls too. The flow can be very low here.
Only in the T3 it looked pretty pretty. Pic in the middle above. Best exit is C1, yellow mark. Easier to climb waterfalls and connect with the path above.
On the second day I checked purple tributary too. Initially is more bushy, but the higher you go
the better it looks with several nice waterfalls and small pools in the upper part.
Choose your combination.
