A mixed feelings route. Beautiful but I’m afraid could be spoiled soon. Please be considered with villagers around and don’t make it Man Cheung Po v2…
- Beauty/fun: 6.5/10 Beautiful reflections, pools & waterfalls.
- Difficulty (check this link if new here, this is not your standard HK hiking web): 4/10 if doing it upstream. Very clear navigation and exit route. Low scrambling. Possibility of emergency exits through the forest.
- Map (how to download to your phone offline maps)
See full screen & the Garmin track of a day going up Bull’s Ear tributary of Fa Tam and down this one, after a bit of bushy hiking path that I would suggest you avoid. Not faster that way. Go through MacLehose, here the connection with Cheung Sheung country trail.
Clear path with the locals walking around.
A slightly bushy smaller path going up and down to the stream. Very green on top.
Several concatenated waterfalls here.
A little later we saw a group of old people cooling down in a big pool. Surprisingly big, good to swim. Iurgi suspicious…
A little later we would discover why…
Most of the stream has small rocks perfect for fast hiking and leaping, even downhill.
A deckchair looking rock, perfect for sun tanning.
Mildly sloped waterfall with easy side dry areas and pools below.
Little by little we started to see more manmade structures. Like these stairs…
Just a little lower this beautiful mirror pool.
And confirm that all the structures are for water gathering…
So please, do not swim in the prevoius upper section and wait till this big pool, under the gathering place.
I already saw a few “gweilos” down ready for their Instagram fun. Really easy to access from the road under. Please, please, please. Be considered with the village below and keep the water clean for them. Do not use sunscreen in body parts that will contact with the water and definitely stay away from the water gathering areas. Thanks.
