In the same area of Flying Phoenix & Dragon streams you have these shorter streams. Picturesque in some areas and little hiked.
- Beauty/fun: 6.5/10 for the right tributary with not as high waterfalls as the aforementioned streams, but with slightly bigger flow and several nice features. Left tributaries are significantly messier.
- Difficulty (check this link if new here, this is not your standard HK hiking web): 6/10 if avoiding the big waterfall climbs. Still high scrambling in a few spots required and the side ribboned paths can be muddy/slippery and with loose rocks. Not clear navigation in some areas.

You can start through the hiking path just a few meters a bit more South or by crossing next to this gate.
Water gathering structures initially.
And the first fork in the forest already. She heading to Right tributary. It is not obvious here that this is the best option. A bit more water on the left side.
Little more than five minutes later the best part of the stream. Huge waterfall. Here the first half of it. It looked climbable, but being the first time there we played it safe and followed the ribbons heading up the forest on the left side.
Not easy. Muddy and with loose rocks, manageable holding trees. We connected back mid way, where the sun rays are in the pic above. Really nice light in that moment. Here looking to the second half.
Climbable on its right side.
A nice big one.
Moving forward a few more waterfalls and pools.
Less and less water until we
took the faint path heading towards Flying Phoenix.
Stream down, up Flying Dragon and check the connecting path with the previous.
I was trying to find the path heading to Left Hidden Dragon, but there were no ribbons nor signs of recent hikers where the GPS marked the entrance. So instead we head down the bushy but clear path further North (green line).
It was heavy raining and soon we could hear the water pouring down Left Left Dragon. Therefore we went straight off path towards the sound for a few minutes and voilà.
The stream to descend.
Several “tributaries” (I guess completely dry in other conditions) connected with the stream.
Beware of partly fallen trees around.
A few small pools and sliders and arrive at
the connection with Left (on the right)
There is little more after that until the connection with the part of the stream that we had hiked up hours before.
Here you can see Colin climbing in the same place (with the hose in the middle that I edited out of my pic 😅 ugly…)
Video from Tyler with the first 30 seconds going up Left tributary (pink line) with the messy bush walk exit.
Right tributary therefore the clear recommendation.
