East peninsula of Lamma coasteering. Relatively complex fun scrambling, a lighthouse, the Dinosaur Egg rock, a small arch to swim through.

See full screen & Garmin track.

The best ferry to take, so that you avoid some extra hiking, is not the most commonly used one from Central, but departing from Aberdeen. The pier on the end of the promenade next to the fish market.

It will take you directly to Mo Tat Wan pier, from where we started coasteering.

In the photo sphere above you can see the first mini bay with a beach within and the housing next to which you would need to pass. Either swimming or semi-trespassing… Moving forward no more problems of that short.

From the get go the scrambling is interesting and definitely not for beginners.

Happy to have our Five Tens on.

Colin was with us. He is able to see the easiest routes really fast. Therefore in little time we arrived at some kind of small pier and concrete structures that lead up to a lighthouse above.

If you are trying to avoid swimming as much as possible you will need to climb several high-ish cliffs.

Only recommended for those experienced.

There are interesting looking rocks all around.

Arriving at

the cliff that not even Colin was able to scramble on.

Long ago that I had jumped into the water several times 😀

As mentioned the exits were not easy either if trying to go back soon on the rocks again.

Just after you arrive at a little tunnel/arch that you can go through, video at 1m41s

And little later, high up on the cliff, the Dinosaur Egg rock.

Go back down to the shoreline and continue finding our way

Higher or lower, as per your preference and ability.

Around here we left Colin behind scrambling and having a swim before starting his return through the early exit marked on the map, which is on the left side of this pic. Follow the GPS track and few ribbons, if any.

The rest of the coasteering continues being interesting,

with several fun scrambles

before arriving at flat ground with tons of small rocks and the beach of Yung Shue Ha.

From where to hike on a main path back to Sok Kwu Wan pier.

Everything you should know before coasteering.

For those asking how did Colin climbed to the Egg, here a video of the “easiest” way up.

Try only if you are a good climber. Colin brought the rope up in case we needed some help and for easier descend with no jumping required.
