Hiking, running, swimming every bit of Hong Kong

Author hkoutdooradventures

Iurgi /juːɡɪ/, Spanish (Basque) living in Hong Kong since 2004. My very first day here we hiked up to Lion Rock and since then I have been exploring all around Hong Kong, trail running, open water swimming, etc. Once I find really special places I like to show them to others. I love seeing the “I can’t believe this is HK” faces

Lantau SW coasteering

Surprisingly interesting rock formations and fun scrambling on the Westernmost coast of the island. Everything fine but for the turbid water.

Caving basics

There are a few caves, mines, and tunnels in Hong Kong that you can explore. Here the very basics that you need to consider.

Sai Kau Nga Hang

Transliteration of West Dog’s Tooth pit (西狗牙坑) also known as West Zig-zag Brook (too many names) is another fun and trickier way to go up to that area.

Tiger Roar

Tiger Roar rock river is another interesting way up to Dog’s Tooth area, more beautiful than the two East paths. Careful with the rocks though!

Dog’s Teeth

I have written about this iconic area several times. I have been asked further details, so here all the main variants that you can hike.

Round island

Repulse Bay to Chung Hom Kok is coasteering introductory classic. If you are ready to swim long there is a more impressive route around.

Lamma East

East peninsula of Lamma coasteering. Relatively complex fun scrambling, a lighthouse, the Dinosaur Egg rock, a small arch to swim through.

Cheung Chau North

Cheung Chau offers a picturesque coastline perfect for coasteering. The North section is an intermediate route with nice scrambling.

Rock & rocks

There are tons of named rocks in Hong Kong. I will try to keep on adding here those I have visited for those looking for the Instagram pic 😛
