Hiking, running, swimming every bit of Hong Kong

Author hkoutdooradventures

Iurgi /juːɡɪ/, Spanish (Basque) living in Hong Kong since 2004. My very first day here we hiked up to Lion Rock and since then I have been exploring all around Hong Kong, trail running, open water swimming, etc. Once I find really special places I like to show them to others. I love seeing the “I can’t believe this is HK” faces

Crescent Island

Once upon a time, this was a remote island. Easier to reach now. A few peculiar rock formations in an easy & shortish coasteering route.

Wall Mountain

壁山溪 Wall Mountain stream has a few peculiar man made structures, several waterfalls and an initial cute woods area. Bushy exit though.

Wu Lei Tau

Several climbable waterfalls, deep pools, relatively short, easy transportation, easy exit. Perfect for testing beginners who want more.

Wu Lei Tau Left Left

Absolutely not recommended unless you are into gardening and want to open your way up through bamboos & bush in a minuscule stream.

Sai Keng stream

Beautiful stream with several high waterfalls and deep pools. Side paths available or very high in waterfalls climbs. Be careful with the latter.

Sai Keng Left

Tiny creek with little water a big part of the year but which can be really fun & pretty after heavy rain. Short and with relatively bushy exit.

Cheung Ching Hang

On my way to Saikung country park from New Territories I saw clearly from the bus a big waterfall. I added it to the long check / to do list.

Ngau Yee creek

I completely forgot to upload this route 😅 Ngau Yee creek (牛耳石坑 = cow ear creek). Relatively low flow and not specially interesting.

Shek Shui Kan

No more than potential side fun if you are in Bride’s Pool, Plover Cove area. Low flow stream with a nice wall and several pools en route.
